Labeling Baked Goods Boxes

According to Food & Drink Weekly, packaging of baked goods continues to grow in importance. So if your restaurant is selling baked goods by the box, proper labeling is a good idea.

The use of pictures and graphics is the most powerful sales tool, according to experts. If you plan on selling organic baked goods, the label must specify this. Federal regulations governing symbols and labeling of organic foods were established in 2002 as part of the National Organic Program (NOP), managed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Foods labeled "organic" must conform to NOP rules. That means each organic ingredient must be identified on the package's information panel. Special handling instructions for organic foods may also apply. Check with NOP guidelines before shipping.
