Proper Glass Handling

According to Libbey Glassware, a top glass drinkware company, restaurant employees should receive a crash course in Glass Handling 101.

This means educating your employees on the proper way to handle glassware. Improved handling means less breakage, less chance of an injury and higher productivity. There are two major causes of glass breakage -- mechanical impact and thermal shock.

Mechanical impact is the result of contact with another object -- a spoon, a beer tap, another glass, the floor. Thermal shock is the result of temperature chance. For example, putting ice into a warm or hot glass. Remember, careful handling can add to the service life of your glassware which means a better return for you on your investment.
